REXKL

REXKL is a dynamic community and cultural center that breathes new life into the historic Rex Cinema building. Originally established in 1947, the cinema underwent transformations after fires in 1972 and 2002. Today, REXKL serves as a vibrant space for arts, culture, and community events.

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM – 10:00 PM 
  • Friday to Sunday: 8:30 AM – 12:00 AM 


Attractions and Facilities:

  • REXPERIENCE (RXP.KL): An immersive digital art gallery located within REXKL, offering exhibitions such as “Other World” and “Twilight.” Operating daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with ticket prices varying based on the exhibition and inclusion of live performances.
  • BookXcess: A multi-level bookstore housed within the former cinema hall, providing a vast selection of books in a unique setting. Opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
  • Food and Beverage Outlets: REXKL hosts various cafés and eateries, offering a range of culinary experiences. Operating hours may vary by outlet.


Entrance Fees:

General admission to REXKL is free. However, specific attractions like REXPERIENCE may have entrance fees. For example, the “Twilight” exhibition charges RM60 for standard entry and RM80 for entries that include a live performance. Discounts are available for MyKad holders, students, seniors, and persons with disabilities upon presentation of valid identification. 


Ticket Purchase:

Tickets for exhibitions like REXPERIENCE can be purchased online in advance through the official REXKL website. On-site ticket purchases are subject to availability. 


Getting There:

  • By Train: Take the LRT or MRT to Pasar Seni Station. REXKL is within walking distance from the station. 
  • By Car or Taxi: Input “REXKL” into navigation apps or e-hailing services like Grab for directions.
